Jennifer Trout is a staff geologist at the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education (MGRRE) facility within the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences at Western Michigan University.
In her role, Jen manages daily operations at MGRRE, orchestrating activities focused on the rescue, identification, and archival of donated cores, cuttings, and associated data. With attention to detail, she spearheads the digitization of crucial documents and box cores, ensuring the preservation and integrity of valuable geological data. In addition, Jen trains, supervises, and mentors a talented cadre of students, guiding them in the accurate entry of information into databases and fostering their growth as future leaders in the field.
Jen serves as the primary point of contact for academic, industrial, and government institutions seeking access to MGRRE’s wealth of data and core examinations. She coordinates sampling initiatives for clients, enabling MGRRE’s information and resources to meet diverse research needs.
Moreover, Jen is a valued collaborator in grant-funded projects, lending her expertise to propel groundbreaking research. She plays a pivotal role in core description and reservoir characterization endeavors, working hand in hand with industry partners to better define Michigan’s subsurface.
